How the score is calculated

Journey Quality (45%) measures effective travel time to every other suburb in Hobart / TAS during the morning peak (8:30am Tuesday), applying a 10-minute penalty per transfer and a 5-minute penalty per bus leg. Cost Efficiency (25%) calculates actual Metro Tasmania fares for the CBD journey, multiplied by 10 trips per week, dividing weekly cost by weekly commuting hours. Connectivity (30%) measures what percentage of all Hobart / TAS suburbs you can reach within 60 minutes by public transport. All scores are normalised across all 103 Hobart suburbs into a composite out of 100.
